National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Did you know that April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month? This month, we are thrilled to partner with one of our favorite nonprofits in Northwest Arkansas, the Children’s Safety Center of Washington County.

The Children’s Safety Center of Washington Country was founded twenty-six years ago as a liaison between law enforcement and investigators to assist with child abuse cases. Anytime the child abuse hotline is called, the children are referred to the CSC, where they provide a child advocate for the kids and families. These are case workers that act as a liaison between all the moving parts within a child abuse investigation.

The CSC also has a medical wing where they can conduct medical exams at their own facility. They provide free mental health therapy, and they work to educate the community through child abuse prevention and education events.

The CSC has several events planned for National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and there are countless ways to get involved this year. Whether you want to buy a blue pinwheel for your lawn, post on social media, participate in Wear Blue Day, or donate to NWA Gives Day, there are numerous ways to join the cause.

If you would like to take a photo with the blue signs and pinwheels, you can find them at the CSC offices, Emma Street in Springdale, the United Federal Credit Union in Tontitown, Hass Hall, and the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club.

This Thursday is NWA Gives Day, where nonprofit organizations across Northwest Arkansas participate in an annual day of giving. This year, there is a $5,000 match, so make sure to get your donations in! You can donate through this link.

Don’t forget to wear blue this Friday for Wear Blue Day! Whether it’s a blue sweatshirt, hat, or shoes, we encourage you to post a photo to social media with the hashtags #weARblue, #cscwashco, #everyhandprintmatters, #RestoringDreams, and #ShineHope to show your support.

Lastly, you don’t want to miss the CSC Open House on April 11th. Because of the nature of the organization, the CSC isn’t always open to the public, so make sure you take advantage of this great opportunity to visit an organization that’s making an important impact on our community!
