New Year New Smile

It’s 2024, and it’s time to get those pearly whites sparkling! This week, Amy Morgan shares four tips that can be used to kickstart your child’s oral healthcare routine this year. We know family routines can be a bit overwhelming, but with these tips, we’re here to make it a breeze!

Out with the Old, In with the New

First things first, it’s time to swap out those old toothbrushes! January is the perfect month to start fresh, and then every three months, it’s out with the old and in with the new no matter if it’s a manual or electric toothbrush. Plus, if anyone falls sick, it’s an automatic cue to replace those brushes so you’re not continuing to spread the sickness through your household. You can even stock up on toothbrushes for the whole year by buying a four-pack for each person in your family!

Check Those Expiration Dates

Don’t let your toothpaste, mouthwash, or any other special teeth cleaning supply sneak past their expiration dates. Keep an eye on these as you kick off the year so you can use them before they expire!

Set the Tone with Reminders

We’ve got a tech-savvy way to help the kiddos remember their dental routine—home devices to the rescue! Whether it’s Alexa, Google Home, or Apple, set up reminders to make sure brushing time isn’t forgotten, especially every morning and every night before bed. Also, as busy moms, this takes the pressure off you to have to remember to remind them everyday!

Encourage with a Brushing Chart

Spice up the brushing routine with a brushing chart! There are several options, like printable ones, whiteboard or wipe off calendars, or you can even let your child make their own. This allows the little ones to track their progress with stickers or checkmarks, and if they’re consistent in their efforts then that might just earn them a treat or a fun activity!
